My name is James and I work on NCL America’s cruise ship the Pride Of America. I’m a receptionist at the front desk in the hotel department. The ship does 7 day cruises around the Hawaiian Islands with ports of call in Honolulu, Maui, Kona, Hilo and Kauai Hawaii.
Before I worked in the front office I was a waiter working on the ship. Over the past two years I went to the F3’s (Norwegian Epic) keel laying at the ship yard, Aker Yards, and on a cruise on the Norwegian Jade.
The Pride Of America is the first US flagged ship in several decades. It’s past sister ships were the Pride Of Aloha and Pride Of Hawaii.
The other ships in Norwegian Cruise Line’s fleet are the Norwegian Sky, Norwegian Sun, Norwegian Spirit, Norwegian Majesty, Norwegian Star, Norwegian Dawn, Norwegian Jewel, Norwegian Jade, Norwegian Pearl and the Norwegian Gem. The next generation of Freestyle cruising kicks off with the Norwegian Epic in 2010.

I worked on Cruiseships 15 years ago. On an Italian cruiseship. We used to do the Mediterranean cities, and Brasil etc.. The contracts were for one year, no day off. And we have to work crazy hours. I also worked on the Independance in Hawaii that was an Amercan flag ship. Short contracts only three months and better pay better tratment to tje crew.

working on the cruiseship is not as good as you think, you need to have a very strong mentality or otherwise you will get serious deppresions, i been on for 5 years.

this brought back alot of memories!!! i worked on the Pride of America and the Pride of Aloha as a dancer. 3 years ago. we were a trans-ship contract. so we flew back and forth 2 times a week. anyway, i loved hawaii and loved those ships. are you still on the ships?
