When both parents have to work, and your child is too young to entertain himself or herself, how do you manage during school vacations?

Many places offer programs during school breaks for children…some YMCAs do.

I have a friend who’s husband was just sent back to Iraq for the second time and I wanted to see if I could find some sort of vacation package where she could go and just kind of take her mind off of things for a weekend. Anyone know of anything special?

Ahhtchoo had about the best answer that can be given. Depending upon where you are stationed there are different options. If you cant find anything there maybe you could go to a massage school or something for the day. You should tag along with her for a "girls" day. The prices would be much cheaper at the school versus an actual spa. Good luck!

I will be cruising from Valparaiso in March and the ship stops in Puerto Montt , Puerto Chacabuco , and Punta Arenas . The tours on the ship seem to be more expensive than what I have found online from a private company . Does anyone have any suggestions ?

We cruised South America on Royal caribbean starting from Valparasio last year, ending in Brazil. Our cruise stopped in Puerto Montt and Punta Arenas but not Chacabuca. We did ship’s tours in both Puerto Montt and Punta Arenas and in both cases the tours turned out to be just something to do. We did the city/museum tours and one that went to a winery where we had wine and sausage and saw some native dancing. The tours were OK but not really exciting and thing to write home about, so to speak. The only suggestion that I have regarding ship’s vs private tours is make sure that you allow enough time for the tour and getting back to the ship well before departure time. You don’t want to be late Getting back to the ship because they will leave you.

After all the tarnish the McCanns have imposed upon a beutifull country like Portugal?

Basically, I have tried surfing the web about ideas what I can do in Winchester (Hampshire) during the day, as well as boozing, shopping and clubbing. I am interested in various activities, including visits to: museums; historic houses/buildings;and anything else cultural in Winchester only. Please, please, please…any decent ideas any one? (Official postal/Website addresses of the tourist attractions/locations would be welcomed).

There are also a lot of attractions nearby, but a car will be needed for most.

Plenty of pubs in the City Centre. Some with live bands (Railway Inn & Guildhall Tavern).
For nightclubs, you need to go to Southampton!!!

Next year is my senior year and we want to go somewhere different instead of Mexico. So we thought Australia would be really fun…the only thing is we have no idea what resorts we can party at and have a good time when we go out….any suggestions?

My family is planning a vacation this summer. Funds are tight, we’re looking for a fun filled, week long vacation the we can all enjoy without breaking the bank. I have small children, so we need to go to a family friendly location.
If anyone know of a reputable agency or realtor, please pass that info along. Thanks With 4 kids we can make our own excitement. As long as our kids enjoy thier selves we really don’t have a preference as to where we go.

I don’t know what part of the US you are located, but if you are close to the east coast I would have to say that the Outer Banks of North Carolina is a favorite place for us.
I have been vacationing there since I was a kid and now we take our kids there and have a great time.

For beach house rentals we have used Atlantic Realty. They have been great to work with.

I was just wondering how people dance in the clubs on cruises, in the 18+ clubs, not the tween or teen clubs. Pretty much I just want to know if people dance really dirty in them. Thanks in advance for your answers!

Well, sometimes it all just depends. It depends on the cruiseline/ship/time of year. That determines what kind of crowd you’ll get in the ship, and that basically sets the atmosphere. Also, it depends on when you go to the club. Like if you go during the day (if its open; sometimes it isn’t on some ships), you’ll tend not to have the more party-hardy crowds there than say at 2 am. I’ve never actually danced in one of those things, and I don’t plan on it. But this is just what I have observed. Obviously if it is an 18+ club, you would probably expect it to look that way as far as dancing.

we want to go somewhere nice…I am 15 and my sister is 17. I want to go to the ocean probably but not the Gulf though because i like bigger waves…But it doesnt have to be ocean. We just got back from TN so nothing there please.

some places in florida are nice and cheap
california has some cheap places and there is water and waves
in cabo san lucas there are big waves and some non expensive hotels

I’m going on a cruise in December and was wondering if there was any way to find out what cruise terminal the caribbean Princess will be at in San Juan? There are 2 potential places it could be – at the terminals right in the heart of Old San Juan, and the Pan-American Cruise terminal.

There will be 2 other ships there that day, the ‘Adventure of the Seas’, and the ‘Carnival Victory’.

Look on-line for the Por of San Juan or do a search for cruise terminal and san juan….or some combination.

For my upcoming cruise in 3 weeks, I searched Port of Miami, found their e-mail address to write and ask them where my ship would be at. I gave them my ship name and sail date. They wrote back and gave me the specific terminal.
