My big brother Micky told me i can deduct my vegas vacations. Micky said he did it when he went to Barbados. His rational is if you answer blackberry pages, send emails or cell calls its deductable because you are using this trip for vacation purposes. The total cost of my vegas vacations is around 12k this year

You and your big brother are playing with fire. From the information that you have indicated in your question, and I see no way possible on how you would even think your Vegas trip is deductible. You mess with Uncle Sam’s money and Uncle Sam will mess with you. How can you prove this trip to be business related (deductible)? I hope you two get audited.

in america, our summer vacation’s like 2-3 month long.
however, my cousins who are in china, she only had 1 month of vacation and she had to go back to school . & she needed to go to a dorm . as in the dorms college students go too .
Shes the same age as me, so shes in 10th grade too .
what about other countries? are there even shorter then 1 month? are there some countries who dont even have summer vacations for their students?

In Australia you usually get 6 to 7 weeks holiday depending on what school you go to and what state you are in.

We would like to get some money back for buying into the program and not using the vacations. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this?

After the Presidential election, look at the states which voted for your candidate, then only take future vacations in those states. At least in this way you’ll know that you will be surrounded by mostly like minded people while on vacation.

If you’re a republican, that could be very boring..with the exception of Texas of course.

If your planning on taking a vacation as a family there are a few places you could go.. First off i would reccomend Orlando, FL… disney world, islands of adventure and tons tons more to do… Theres everything from seaworld to theme parks out the butt! Of course right now expessially there are tons of great deals! Second.. maybe Pigeon Forge, TN its perfect this time of year… christmas is here and the whole town is light up with christmas lights and themed of christmas! Its in the smokie mountains and theres alot to do there as well. First off you could stay in a cabin close to town… where youd have a hot tub.. pool table and tons of extras in your cabin. As well as dollywood is close and tons of fun! Lots to do and your family will not get bored! And of course Las Vegas depending on the age group! All in all i have used a great website to book all of our family vacations… they offer great deals on hotels tickets and everything you would possably need on your vacation. My fiance received a fax in her office about three vacations for the price of one from the "Corporate Travel Department." She works for a rather large company, but I dont believe they have a formal travel department. I, myself, have received similar faxes in the past at my business, but have thrown them away. Considering gas prices this summer, I figure it might be worth looking into. Anyone ever done this? What was your personal experience?

I would say Scam. I’m a Police Dispatcher in U.K, and we would get loads of them at the Station. The ones we recieved , you had to fax back, at about £1+ ($2) minute for info, or it was a high price phone number to call back.

I have a female guinea pig, and I am leaving for two months for my vacations. There is no way I can take her with me. I really don’t know what to do with her. Anyone willing to keep it for me ? Anyone knows someone or a company that can keep it ?

wow. what IS up with that!? i barely get time off in my own job! i cant even get a week =|. i think this case would be very annoying if you had to do HER work while she is gone on vacation. my advice is to just try to look past it. its her own business. and if she keeps it up maybe she will get fired? ; ) heehee.

There are more and more organizations popping up offering "volunteer vacations" where one goes and volunteers their time and skills in usually a foreign country. Aside from Habitat for Humanity or Doctor’s Without Borders, I would very much like to know anyone’s experiences with organizations like those. I get the sense that these "programs" are no better than one going out there on their own and spending less money for the same or better benefit of the particular community. In mind I have particular organizations that are bad at organizing any volunteer work and worse at providing adequate funding. I just would like to know if there are people with first hand experience who truly believe that the organizations they vacationed with were very beneficial.

When hurricane Katrina wiped out New Orleans,i Voulenteered My help for the first time in my life with The RED CROSS.At our breifing and first meeting here in California about travel and otherthings,We were told That The Red Cross Required each voulenteer had a Valid Drivers Lisence. At the time I only had my valid Ca.State I.D.
We were told we would recieve a VISA Debit Card For each voulenteer with the amount of $800 dollars for food or whatever we wanted…One Of the Guys that Had been with the RED CROSS said " You dont have to use the card ,You can take out the cash at an atm when you arrive back home and just say u used it in New Orleans.That,I thought was wrong. he also said" we usually get together for drinks so save some of your money for partying. Again,I thought "well ,thats wrong." And I was told that each voulenteer needed a valid Drivers Lisence because we all get a rental Car. Again, Wrong. I wasnt able to go because of my driving status but thought to myself later "No one is using cars ,its flooded,also where was anyone going to party when this big disaster was unfolding and people needed help?
I then realized after my anger subsided that The Red Cross was a joke and was really mis-managing Funds. People around the world were pouring in with Donations and The R.C. was buying VISA CARDS w/$800 each for each volunteer and rental cars. Here I was,A perfectly capable person to help with shelters,with giving out food, and moral support for the victims. I was angry and I told myself I will never donate any money to the Red Cross again.months later we all saw on the news how the Director of the Red Cross was held accountable for mis-management and mis handeling of funds. The Red Cross to me is a Racket with people using donations for comfartability and there amusement as they wished. So wrong!!!
